Project Overview
The students will use MuseScore to create their own piece of music for a small ensemble (no more than four instruments). While doing this, they will become proficient in the software and be able to create music in the future, either for themselves or another project.
The collaboration part of the project happens when they send their piece to a student of another school, previously chosen by the other teacher and myself. Each student will make notes, evaluate, and even possibly change part of the music to help contribute to the student's piece.

Justification
EALR 1 - Integration: The students will be able to use technology to create their pieces of music, emails to another student to collaborate on musical ideas, lets the students be creative and innovative in the processes of creating the music, and solve problems they may have on the project with another student's help.
1.1: Innovate: Through the construction of creating their own piece on MuseScore, the students will demonstrate their creativity by producing a new piece of music.
1.2: Collaborate: The students will use the internet to send emails and communicate with each other about their pieces. If the students would like, they could trade Skype information and video chat each other while collaborating, however, the minimum is emailing back and forth between the two students to collaborate on each other's pieces.

Project Plan
This is a project for high school students, grades 9-12, in each class. The project will be a collaboration with another school, and each student will be collaborating with a student of the same grade and musical knowledge level.
In this project, students will be creating their own piece of music for a small ensemble (no more than four instruments) using MuseScore. While creating their music, they must save it as a piece that can be edited and printed so that they can send the music through email to a student at a different school, as well as print off the final product. After the students create their own piece, they will be given contact information to another student from a different school to collaborate with. It is up to the students on wether or not they communicate through email only, or if they use Skype or another form of communication. After the students have shared their pieces with each other, the other students makes comments, changes, or additions to the piece, with explanations as to why they did this. The students will then get their music back and have time to edit the piece.
Once the music is completed, they will turn the music in for a grade. Each student will have the opportunity to play their piece in front of the class if they so choose.
